Living On Purpose!

I love to listen to music, especially good~meaningful music. Songs that i've heard on the radio lately like, "If today was your last day," by Nickelback and the song, "Live like you were dying" by Tim McGraw are songs that make us think about our own lives, atleast it does for me. Although i prefer to live like i "was" living! I also love to read uplifting and inspiring books~ so i've recently started reading Chuck Goetschel's book, "Simon Says."
In this book Chuck has a wonderful way of giving practical advice and strong encouragement. He offers the priceless reminder that our lives matter and can have a ripple effect on the lives of others. So, in listening to these songs it reminded me that none of us has any idea how long we have to live. Sadly, we might even act as if we're going to live forever. It's a powerful reminder for us to really live each day as if it were our last. I know that's easily said, but we should make 'living' life a priority.

Richard Carlson says this, "We postpone the things that, deep down, we know we want to do~telling the people we love how much we care, spending time alone, visiting a good friend, taking that beautiful hike, running a marathon, writing a heartfelt letter, going fishing with your daughter, learning to meditate, becoming a better listener, and on and on." He also says that we come up with elaborate and sophisticated rationales to justify our actions, and end up spending most of our time and energy doing things that aren't all that important.

I'm a big believer of mission statements. Chuck Goetschel also points this out in his book. If we'll wake up and jot a FEW things down that to us are a priority- it really can be empowering. It's not your 'To Do' list, but think of it as your 'Ta Da' list. Even if you only accomplish one of those things, just remember that if it's a priority...a little bit will go a loooooong way!

Another book I recommend prayerfully reading is The Book of Mormon. Joseph Smith testified that “the Book of Mormon was the most correct of any book on earth." You have the right to know that for yourself. I do know if you want to live a life with meaning, purpose and direction this book will enlighten your understanding.

Let's read books that will help us progress. Let's live intentionally and prayerfully!!

What a great post! I have that book "Simon Says" but haven't gotten to it yet. I will make sure it's in line. I love the idea of a "ta da list". I've been trying to live each day to the fullest as well, living with no regrets and just enjoying life. I am so excited to introduce the world to our little girl. And whether you know it or not, you give me great inspiration. You are a wonderful mother and role model and I am grateful to have you in my life, even though you are a bit further away these days. Love ya!
